Here’s what we’ve managed to screengrab from the trailer:
The Warhammer 40,000 episode, titled “Chaos,” is inspired by the upcoming game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. It will see Clive Standen reprise his role as Lieutenant Titus from the game, alongside Max Rinehart as a character named Julius, speculated to be another Ultramarine Space Marine.
The episode will revolve around the Chaos factions associated with Warhammer 40,000’s ruinous powers, involving demons and traitor Space Marines.
“Secret Level” is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studio, the animation studio behind Netflix’s acclaimed series “Love, Death + Robots.”
Games Workshop’s own Warhammer Studio partnered with Blur to ensure the Warhammer 40,000 episode stays true to the setting’s tone and themes.
Other games reportedly featured in “Secret Level” include “Armored Core,” “Dungeons & Dragons,” “Mega Man,” “PAC-MAN,” “Spelunky,” “The Outer Worlds,” and various PlayStation Studios titles. Episodes based on Amazon Games’ “New World” and id Software’s “Doom” are also rumored to be part of the series.
Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40,000 Project
In addition to the “Secret Level” anthology, Amazon is also in discussions with Games Workshop for a separate Warhammer 40,000 film and TV series starring Henry Cavill.
The actor, known for his roles in “The Witcher” and “Man of Steel,” is a self-proclaimed Warhammer fan and has expressed interest in bringing the franchise to the screen.
However, Games Workshop and Amazon have until December 2024 to agree on “creative guidelines” for the project, or the film and TV series won’t move forward.
Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on this potential adaptation, which could bring the grim, dark future of the 41st Millennium to a wider audience.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set to release on September 9th, 2024, just a few months before the “Secret Level” anthology debuts on Prime Video in over 240 countries on December 10th.
