Step 1: Priming – The Foundation of Your Neurolictor
To begin, prime your Neurolictor with Wraithbone primer. This step provides a solid foundation for the subsequent layers of paint.
Step 2: Chitin Armor – Dark and Mysterious
Paint the chitin armor of your Neurolictor with Naggaroth Night. This dark purple serves as the base coat. After that, add depth by shading it with Druchii Violet. Then, layer it with Xereus Purple, followed by Genestealer Purple for highlights.
Step 3: Skeletal Body – The Undying Core
For the skeletal body, use Rakarth Flesh as the base coat. To give it depth and realism, apply a shade of Reikland Fleshshade. Next, layer the bone with Flayed One Flesh and add further highlights with Pallid Wych Flesh.
Step 4: Pink Spots – Sinister Markings
Paint the spots on your Neurolictor’s body, such as the endpoints of its limbs, with Carroburg Crimson for shading. Then, layer these spots with Emperor’s Children to make them stand out.
Step 5: Claws – Sharp and Menacing
For the claws, use Khorne Red as the base coat. Apply a shade of Agrax Earthshade to add depth. Then, layer them with Evil Sunz Scarlet, and finish with Wild Rider Red for highlights.
Step 6: Exposed Brain – Eerie Radiance
The exposed brain of the Neurolictor should have a pale, glowing blue hue. To achieve this effect, use Baharroth Blue as the base color and add highlights with White Scar for an eerie radiance.
Step 7: Painting the Base – Creating the Setting
Enhance the overall presentation by painting the base. Utilize texture paints, such as Astrogranite Debris or Stirland Mud, to create a realistic terrain effect. Apply the texture paint evenly across the base, ensuring complete coverage. You can use a texture tool or an old brush to sculpt the paint and add additional texture, such as footprints or debris.
Step 8: Varnishing – Protecting Your Work
To protect your beautifully painted Neurolictor, consider applying a varnish. Munitorum Varnish is an excellent choice for a matte finish that safeguards your miniature without altering its appearance. Ensure the miniature is entirely dry before varnishing.
