Step 1: Prime the Model
Begin by priming the Lion El’Jonson miniature with Chaos Black spray. Make sure to cover the entire model evenly with a thin layer of primer. Allow it to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Base Colors
Since we primed the miniature with a black primer already, we can jump straight into layering it. Layer the armor with Eshin Grey. Create thin lines on the raised edges. You can also use White Scar to create highlights, focus on areas where light would naturally occur.
For the metallic elements like weapons, belts, and buckles, utilize Leadbelcher. This will give these parts a realistic metallic appearance.
Lastly, for the gold accents on the armor, use Balthasar Gold. This adds a touch of regal splendor to the model.
Step 3: Cape and Cloth
Moving on to the cape and any cloth sections, start with Caliban Green as the base color for the cape. This rich green sets the foundation for a striking appearance.
For the inside of the cape and any additional cloth sections on the model, use Zandri Dust for these areas. This earthy tone complements the green cape beautifully.
Step 4: Facial Details(depends on build)
Let’s focus on the facial features now. Begin with Rakarth Flesh as the base skin color. This provides a natural flesh tone to work with.
For additional skin tones or highlights, use Cadian Fleshtone. This step adds depth and realism to the face.
Use Abaddon Black for the eyes and any facial details. Take your time to capture the facial details and ensure a lifelike appearance. For the hair, you can use a pale yellow tone like Dorn Yellow.
Step 5: Layer and Shade
Apply Agrax Earthshade to the entire model. This shade adds depth and shading, enhancing the overall realism of the miniature. Concentrate on recessed areas like the crevices in the armor and the folds of the cape.
Step 6: Fine Details
For smaller golden details, such as emblems and ornaments on the armor, use Retributor Armor. This step adds intricate touches to the model.
Additionally, you can use Ulthuan Grey for any extra highlighting on the cape or cloth sections. This will make these areas pop and catch the eye.
Step 7: Base Texture
Create a textured surface on the base by applying Astrogranite texture paint. This step adds depth and realism to the model’s base.
Step 8: Varnish for Protection
To protect your meticulously painted Lion El’Jonson model and give it a professional finish, use Munitorum Varnish Spray. Apply it following the manufacturer’s instructions, with light, even coats.
Remember to let each layer dry completely before moving on to the next step. This step-by-step approach ensures that your Lion El’Jonson miniature is beautifully painted and well-protected.
