Dorn Yellow from Citadel Colour is an acrylic paint that is designed specifically for miniature painting. It is a vivid, sunny yellow color with a matt finish. The paint’s pigments are carefully selected to provide a strong base coat with great coverage, making it a perfect foundation color for a beginner’s palette. It’s like a ray of sunshine captured in a bottle, the Dorn Yellow creates the perfect foundation for a miniature’s painting, setting the stage for the other colours to shine like a precious gemstones.

What armies to paint with Dorn Yellow

Dorn Yellow is a versatile color that can be used to paint a variety of Xeno armies in the Warhammer 40K universe. The decision to list the following armies was made based on their visual characteristics and the use of yellow in their armor and machinery.

  • The Necrons – The Necrons are a faction of robotic soldiers with a metallic appearance. They have a lot of yellow in their armor and machinery, and Dorn Yellow would be a great color for basecoating their metallic surfaces.
  • The Tyranids – The Tyranids are a faction of bio-engineered monsters, with a lot of yellow in their exoskeletons and organic weapons. Dorn Yellow would be a great color for basecoating their exoskeleton, giving it a strong foundation that you can then highlight and shade with other colors.
  • Orks – Orks are the faction of Greenskin, their armor and machinery have a lot of yellow and metalic surface, Dorn Yellow would be a great color for basecoating their metalic armor and machinery. Also, it can be use in their cloth, skin, and gun barrels, this will give a great variation of tones and make the Ork army look even more vibrant.

These are just a few of the many armies in the Warhammer 40K universe that could be painted with Dorn Yellow. The color is a great choice for basecoating metalic armor and machinery, and it can be used to add a vibrant pop of color to a wide variety of soldiers, tanks and infantry.

Also, you can add other colors to create the camo, weathering, and other details that will make your army look even more authentic and true to the Warhammer 40k universe.

Dorn Yellow Colour Schemes & Combinations

Based on color theory and the idea of split-complementary colors, it was decided to list particular paint colors that can be utilized with Dorn Yellow. Split-complimentary colors are a version of complementary colors in which the two colors next to the complementary color are used in place of the complementary color’s direct opposite on the color wheel. This results in a more vibrant and pleasing color combination. In this instance, I would suggest the split-complementary hues of Dorn Yellow as follows:

In addition to split-complementary colors, it’s also worth considering analogous colors, which are colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. Analogous colors can be used to create a sense of harmony in a painting. In this case, you can use analogous colors to Dorn Yellow to create highlights or shadows on the basecoat.

When working with metallic colors like Silver and stormhost Silver, it’s also important to consider how they will interact with the other colors in the painting. Silver tones can be used as a highlight to create a sense of depth and contrast, while stormhost Silver will be great to make a striking details. Also the blue and purple can add a great feeling of contrast and richness to the army.
