How to paint the Kabalite Warriors set
- Step 1: Prime Your Models
Start by applying a thin, even coat of Chaos Black or White Scar spray primer to your Kabalite Warriors. This will give them a solid foundation for painting. - Step 2: Basecoat the Armor
Grab a medium-sized brush and apply a basecoat of a dark color like Abaddon Black or Kantor Blue to the armor of your Kabalite Warriors. Make sure to cover all the areas evenly. - Step 3: Highlight the Armor
Switch to a smaller brush and carefully apply a lighter shade of the base color to the raised edges and prominent areas of the armor. For example, you can use Thunderhawk Blue to bring out the details of the black armor or Alaitoc Blue for the blue armor. - Step 4: Paint the Details
Now it’s time to add some flair to your models. Use a fine-tipped brush and Leadbelcher for the metallic parts, Mephiston Red for the weapons, and Evil Sunz Scarlet for the smaller details like gems or insignias. Take your time and be precise. - Step 5: Shade the Armor
To add depth and definition, apply a thin wash of Nuln Oil over the armor. This will bring out the shadows and make the details pop. Make sure to distribute the wash evenly across the surface. - Step 6: Paint the Skin
Switch back to the medium-sized brush and paint the exposed skin areas of your Kabalite Warriors. Bugman’s Glow or Cadian Fleshtone are great choices for this step. Be careful not to overlap onto the armor. - Step 7: Highlight the Skin
Using the smaller brush again, apply a lighter shade of the base color to the raised areas of the skin. Kislev Flesh or Pallid Wych Flesh can help create a natural-looking highlight. This will add depth and realism to the skin tones. - Step 8: Paint the Eyes
Grab your fine-tipped brush and carefully paint the eyes of your Kabalite Warriors. Mephiston Red or Gauss Blaster Green can make them stand out. Take your time and aim for precision. - Step 9: Base the Models
Add some character to the bases of your Kabalite Warriors. Use texture paint like Stirland Mud or Astrogranite to create a realistic surface. Paint the base with Mechanicus Standard Grey or Dryad Bark for rocks, or Mournfang Brown for a dirt-like effect. - Step 10: Varnish for Protection
To protect your hard work, apply a layer of Munitorum Varnish or Ardcoat using a suitable varnish brush or spray. This will ensure your models stay looking great even after countless battles.
