How to paint the Inquisitor Greyfax Set

  1. Step 1: Priming
Begin by applying a layer of primer to Inquisitor Greyfax. Use a Chaos Black primer to provide a solid base for the subsequent layers of paint.
  2. Step 2: Skin Tone
Paint Inquisitor Greyfax’s exposed skin with a flesh-tone paint like Rakarth Flesh. This will give her a natural complexion.
  3. Step 3: Clothing and Armor
For her clothing, use Abaddon Black as the base coat. Apply this paint to all the areas that should be black, including her coat, gloves, and boots. Her armor, on the other hand, should be painted with Leadbelcher for a metallic look.
  4. Step 4: Shading
To add depth to the black areas, apply a black wash, such as Nuln Oil, as a shade. This will settle into the recesses and create shadows. For the metallic areas, use Agrax Earthshade to give them a weathered appearance.
  5. Step 5: Layering
After shading, use a lighter gray color, like Dawnstone, to carefully layer the raised areas of her clothing. This will create highlights and make the black look more textured. For the metallic areas, apply a lighter silver, like Stormhost Silver, to add shine and dimension.
  6. Step 6: Gold and Brass Details
For the gold details on her outfit and accessories, use a metallic gold paint like Retributor Armor. Apply this to areas like the trim on her coat and the accents on her staff. The Inquisitorial symbols should be painted with a brass or bronze paint for a distinguished appearance.
  7. Step 7: Cape
The inside of her cape should be painted with Khorne Red for a bold contrast. The outside should remain Abaddon Black. Ensure clean, even coats to achieve the desired effect.
  8. Step 8: Face Details
Paint her eyes with White Scar to create a base for her eye color. Once dry, carefully paint in her eye color, like Skink Blue or Cygor Brown. Don’t forget to add a tiny white dot to each eye for reflection. Use Pink Horror for her lips to give her a natural look.
  9. Step 9: Hair
Paint her hair with a suitable color, like Gorthor Brown or Corvus Black, to provide contrast with her skin tone.
  10. Step 10: Base
To complete the model, paint the base using Citadel texture paints like Stirland Battlemire or Martian Ironearth to create a realistic terrain effect. You can also add grass tufts or other scenic elements for extra detail.
  11. Step 11: Varnish
Finally, to protect your beautifully painted Inquisitor Greyfax, apply a varnish. Stormshield is a suitable choice for a matte finish that preserves the paintwork. Make sure the miniature is entirely dry before applying varnish.
