The Holy Orders of the Emperor’s Inquisition, commonly known as the Inquisition, is a covert group operating independently from the regular administrative structure of the Imperium of Man.

Functioning as the Imperium’s clandestine law enforcement agency, the Inquisition tirelessly pursues and eliminates numerous threats that jeopardize the stability of the God-Emperor’s domain.

These threats encompass everything from the insidious influence of Chaos, Heretics, mutants, and rebels to the aggressive incursions of hostile alien species such as the Tyranids, Orks, and Drukhari.

The Inquisition’s well-known symbol draws its origins from the personal heraldry of Malcador the Sigillite, the Regent of Terra during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. As the second most powerful psyker in the Imperium of Man, second only to the Emperor Himself, Malcador established the initial secretive organization that would eventually evolve into the diverse Ordos of the Inquisition.

At the onset of the Heresy, the Emperor commanded the Sigillite to assemble a group of individuals possessing an “inquisitive nature” to uncover and confront the enemies of the Imperium, whether they resided within its borders or beyond.
