How to paint the Grey Knights Interceptor Squad

  1. Step 1: Base Coat the Armor with Metallic Paint
Commence by applying a suitable metallic paint like Leadbelcher or Iron Warriors to the armor of your Grey Knights Interceptor Squad. This establishes the foundational color for their metallic armor.
  2. Step 2: Add Depth with a Shade
Utilize a shade such as Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade to infuse depth and shadows into the metallic armor. Carefully apply the shade to recesses and crevices, highlighting intricate details.
  3. Step 3: Layer the Armor
Layer the armor with a lighter metallic paint like Ironbreaker or Stormhost Silver. Concentrate on raised areas to create a radiant, reflective effect, mimicking the gleam of polished armor.
  4. Step 4: Paint the Flesh
If any of the heads are exposed, apply an appropriate paint like Kislev Flesh or Cadian Fleshtone.
  5. Step 5: Paint the Swords
Coat the swords of your Grey Knights Interceptor Squad with a light blue paint such as Baharroth Blue or Altdorf Guard Blue. This choice imparts a distinctive and otherworldly appearance to their weapons.
  6. Step 6: Add a Shade to the Swords
Enhance the luminous quality of the swords by applying a suitable shade such as Drakenhof Nightshade for a colder aura or Tyran Blue for a brilliant radiance. This step intensifies the depth and dimension of the blades.
  7. Step 7: Layer the Sword Blades
Further intensify the glowing effect by layering the sword blades with a lighter blue paint, such as Teclis Blue or Fenrisian Grey. This accentuates the ethereal quality of the blades.
  8. Paint the details
  9. For trims or belts, pouches, or clothing you can use paints like Retributor Armour, Mournfang Brown, White Scar/Corax White or Mephiston Red. See what you like, experiment, and have fun in doing so!
This step adds character to your Grey Knights and makes them more unique.
  10. Step 8: Craft Thematic Bases
Elevate the overall presentation of your Grey Knights Interceptor Squad by crafting textured bases. Utilize paints like Astrogranite Debris or Stirland Mud, selecting paints that complement your chosen theme. This enhances the thematic depth of your miniatures.
  11. Step 9: Apply Protective Varnish
To safeguard your meticulously painted miniatures and provide a durable finish, apply a protective layer of Citadel Munitorum Varnish. This not only ensures the longevity of your work but also imparts a professional satin-matte finish, enhancing the overall appearance of your Grey Knights on the tabletop.
