The Adeptus Custodes, a renowned and revered force, has always marched alongside the Emperor himself, embodying the grandeur and might of the Imperium. Just as their weapons and armor reflect the Emperor’s martial glory, the Vexillas, proud standards borne by veteran Custodians, serve as symbols of their unwavering dedication. No shield company goes to battle without the inspiring presence of the Vexillas soaring above them.
This multi-part plastic kit provides all the components needed to assemble a Vexilus Praetor. Adorned in magnificent auramite power armor adorned with intricate Emperor’s sigils, including Imperial eagles, lightning bolts, gemstones, and filigree, the Praetor wields a choice of guardian spear or castellan axe. However, the true centerpiece of the kit is the enormous and ornate vexilla. Towering over the Praetor himself, this awe-inspiring standard displays a massive double-headed eagle embellished with gemstones, spikes, and sacred inscriptions.
In addition to the Vexilus Praetor, the kit allows for the creation of 4 Custodian Wardens or a combination of 3 Custodian Wardens and a Shield-Captain. The Custodian Wardens can be equipped with either a guardian spear or a castellan axe. The Shield-Captain possesses unique shoulder pads, thigh plates, helmet plume, and wields a misericordia, while still having access to the standard weapon choices.

How to paint the Custodian Wardens Vexilus Praetor set
- Step 1: Prime the model
Start by applying a primer spray to the Vexilus Praetor. Use a light-colored primer to create a good base for the subsequent layers of paint. - Step 2: Basecoat the armor
Using a brush or airbrush, apply a basecoat of a yellow paint like Averland Sunset. Ensure an even and smooth coverage on all the armor surfaces. - Step 3: Paint the details
Carefully paint the various details on the model, such as the gemstones, lightning bolts, and filigree. For example, use a red paint like Mephiston Red for the lightning bolts and a metallic paint like Leadbelcher for the filigree. - Step 4: Highlight the armor
To add depth and dimension to the armor, apply highlights to the raised areas. Use a lighter shade of yellow, such as Yriel Yellow, to carefully paint the edges and prominent areas of the armor plates. - Step 5: Paint the vexilla
Focus on the enormous vexilla carried by the Vexilus Praetor. Use a combination of metallic paints like Ironbreaker and Balthasar Gold to highlight the details and create a regal appearance. - Step 6: Shade the model
Apply a wash, such as Agrax Earthshade, to the entire model to bring out the intricate details and create shading effects. - Step 7: Paint the face and skin
If visible, paint the face and exposed skin areas of the Vexilus Praetor. Use flesh-toned paints like Cadian Fleshtone for the skin and appropriate colors for the eyes, hair, and lips. - Step 8: Finish with details
Complete the model by painting the remaining details, such as the weapon, accessories, and base. For example, use a silver metallic paint for the weapon and a textured paint like Astrogranite for the base. - Step 9: Varnish the model
Once the paint is dry, apply a layer of varnish to protect the model and give it a matte or glossy finish, according to your preference
