How to paint the Custodian Guard Squad Set
- Step 1: Prepare Your Models
Before painting your Custodian Guard Squad, make sure to clean the models with warm soapy water to remove any mold release agents. Use a hobby knife or file to carefully remove any mold lines or imperfections. Assemble the models according to the provided instructions. - Step 2: Prime the Models
Apply a thin, even coat of primer to the assembled models using a spray can or airbrush. Consider using colors like Chaos Black. - Step 3: Base Coat
Using a brush, apply a base coat to the different parts of the model. For the Custodian Guard armor, you can use Retributor Armor or a similar gold paint. Apply it evenly, ensuring good coverage. - Step 4: Detailing
Once the base coat is dry, it’s time to add details. Use a smaller brush to paint the intricate parts such as the trim, accessories, and weapons. Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil can be applied to recesses and crevices to add depth and shadow. - Step 5: Highlights
To make the details pop, apply highlights to raised areas using a lighter shade of gold like Liberator Gold. Use a thin brush and focus on edges and surfaces that catch the light. - Step 6: Faces and Skin
For the Custodian Guard faces, use colors like Kislev Flesh for the skin and Abaddon Black for the eyes. Apply a thin layer of color, then carefully add details to the eyes using a fine brush. - Step 7: Bases
Paint the bases using Stirland Mud or other texture paints to represent the terrain. Add some drybrushing with a lighter brown or gray to bring out the texture. Finish off with Armageddon Dust or another suitable dry paint for a dusty or sandy effect. - Step 8: Varnish and Protect
To protect your painted models, apply a layer of varnish. Choose a finish that suits your preference, such as matte, satin, or gloss. Make sure to follow the instructions on the varnish for the best results.
