How to paint the Castellan Crowe set
- Step 1: Basecoating
Apply a basecoat to the model using a black paint, such as Abaddon Black or Chaos Black. This provides a solid foundation for the subsequent layers of paint. - Step 2: Armor and Cloth
Using a medium-sized brush, paint the armor plates with a metallic silver color like Runefang Steel or Leadbelcher. For the cloth areas, use a dark brown or black color like Dryad Bark or Rhinox Hide. - Step 3: Details and Trim
Switch to a smaller brush and paint the finer details and trim of the model. Use a dark red color like Mephiston Red or Khorne Red for the shoulder pads, cloth accents, and purity seals. Paint any metallic details, such as the sword hilt, with a metallic silver color. - Step 4: Face and Skin
With a fine detail brush, carefully paint the face and exposed skin areas using a flesh tone like Cadian Fleshtone or Kislev Flesh. Remember to paint the eyes using a contrasting color, such as Celestium Blue, for added detail. - Step 5: Sword
Using a medium brush, paint the blade of the sword with a dark purple using Naggaroth Night. Use a lighter purple like Xereus Purple to add layering to the edges and raised areas of the sword. This will create highlights and depth. - Step 6: Details and Finishing Touches
Paint any additional details on the model, such as the scrollwork or iconography, using appropriate colors. Use a fine detail brush for precision. Add highlights to raised areas using lighter shades of the base colors, such as Fenrisian Grey or Elysian Green. - Step 7: Varnish
Once the paint has dried, protect your model by applying a varnish or protective coat. This will ensure the longevity of your paint job and provide a desired finish, be it matte or glossy.
