How to paint the Burning Chariot of Tzeentch set
- Step 1: Prime the Miniatures
Start by priming all three miniatures using a suitable primer color. For the Exalted Flamer and the Screamers of Tzeentch, a grey or white primer works well. For the Chariot, use a black or darker grey primer to create a solid base. - Step 2: Basecoat the Exalted Flamer
Begin by basecoating the Exalted Flamer’s body in a blue color like Kantor Blue or Macragge Blue. Apply multiple thin coats to achieve full coverage, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. - Step 3: Paint the Flames on the Exalted Flamer
For the flames, start by basecoating them in a cyan-green color such as Temple Guard Blue or Sotek Green. Apply multiple thin coats to build up the color intensity. - Step 4: Create Transitions on the Flames
Using a smaller brush and a lighter shade of cyan-green like Sybarite Green or Warpstone Glow, carefully paint the tips of the flames, gradually blending them into the base color. This creates a smooth transition and adds depth to the flames. - Step 5: Basecoat the Screamers of Tzeentch
Basecoat the Screamers of Tzeentch in a darker shade of blue like Night Lords Blue or Caledor Sky. Apply multiple thin coats to ensure solid coverage. - Step 6: Highlight the Screamers
Using a lighter blue color such as Altdorf Guard Blue or Lothern Blue, carefully apply highlights to the raised areas of the Screamers. Focus on edges and details to make them stand out. - Step 7: Basecoat the Chariot
Basecoat the Chariot in a bronze or brown color like Balthasar Gold or Doombull Brown. Apply multiple thin coats to achieve full coverage, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. - Step 8: Paint the Flames on the Chariot
The flames underneath the Chariot should be painted in the same cyan-green color as the Exalted Flamer’s flames. Follow the same steps used for painting the flames on the Exalted Flamer. - Step 9: Highlight the Chariot
Using a lighter shade of bronze like Gehenna’s Gold or Auric Armour Gold, carefully apply highlights to the edges and raised areas of the Chariot. This adds depth and brings out the metallic details. - Step 10: Optional: Shade and Varnish
If desired, apply a shade like Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade selectively to add depth to the miniatures. Once dry, apply a layer of varnish to protect the paint job.
