On the TableTop

The Voidraven Bomber, a sleek and formidable attack craft meticulously designed to provide vital heavy support to Drukhari forces. With its supersonic speeds and devastating weaponry, this terrifying aircraft is equipped with a fearsome void mine that unleashes a cataclysmic explosion, comprising two warheads – one engulfing targets in a crackling sphere of energy, while the other releases a particle of pure darklight that obliterates anything ensnared within its malevolent grasp.

Upon assembly, this commanding model boasts an impressive wingspan of nine and a half inches. Positioned at the midpoint of the Voidraven’s fuselage, the pilot’s cockpit exudes an air of authority, while the bombardier commands from an armoured crystal dome at the very front, aided by intricate targeting graphics etched onto the dome’s clear plastic surface. Propelled by four colossal jet engines integrated into the back of its double-delta wing design, the Voidraven exudes the same sleek profile as its Razorwing Jetfighter counterpart.

Equipped with a versatile void mine, the Voidraven offers two placement options – stowed or ready to drop – located beneath the main fuselage. Additionally, two formidable void lances are securely affixed under the wings, with the option to exchange them for two dark scythes, providing even greater flexibility on the battlefield. Harness the destructive potential of the Voidraven as it dominates the skies, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake and asserting the indomitable might of the Drukhari.

How to paint the Voidraven Bomber set

  1. Step 1: Base Coat – Stealth Black
Start by applying a base coat of black paint to the Voidraven Bomber. Use a black paint like Abaddon Black or Chaos Black Spray. Apply an even layer, ensuring full coverage over the entire model.
  2. Step 2: Detailing – Red Accents
Paint the Aeldari iconography and any desired red accents on the Voidraven Bomber. Colors like Mephiston Red or Wazdakka Red can be used for this step. Apply the red paint carefully to the specific areas you want to highlight, such as markings, symbols, or small details.
  3. Step 3: Highlighting – Stealth Black
Using a dark gray or a slightly lighter shade of black, carefully highlight the edges and raised areas of the Voidraven Bomber. This will add depth and enhance the sleekness of the model. For example, you can use a paint like Mechanicus Standard Grey or Dawnstone for this step.
  4. Step 4: Detailing – Aeldari Iconography again
If you want you can paint additional Aeldari iconography with a contrasting color to make it stand out. Colors like Yriel Yellow or Flash Gitz Yellow can be used for this step. Apply the paint carefully, ensuring clean and defined lines for the symbols and markings.
  5. Step 5: Detailing – Bronze Weapon Tips
Paint the tips of the weapons with a bronze color to add visual interest and contrast. Warplock Bronze or Hashut Copper are two good options for this but you can also try a gold, like Retributor Armour. Apply the paint carefully to the weapon tips, ensuring a clean and defined finish.
  6. Step 6: Wash – Shading and Depth
Apply a wash, such as Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade, to the entire model. This will settle into the recessed areas, adding shading and depth to the paintwork. Ensure the wash is evenly applied and wipe off any excess.
  7. Step 7: Highlighting – Final Touches
Using a lighter shade of gray or silver, apply highlights to the edges of the model, focusing on areas where light would naturally catch, such as edges and raised surfaces. For example, you can use a paint like Celestra Grey or Runefang Steel for this step.
  8. Step 8: Optional – Weathering and Effects
If desired, you can add weathering effects to the Voidraven Bomber to enhance its realism. Techniques such as dry brushing with a lighter gray or silver paint can simulate wear and tear, while washes can create grime or oil stains. Experiment with these techniques to achieve the desired effect.
  9. Step 9: Varnish
To protect your painted Voidraven Bomber and give it a finished look, apply a matte varnish to maintain a stealthy appearance, like Stormshield. Follow the instructions on the varnish product for proper application.
