How to paint the Chaos Bikers set

  1. Step 1: Prime your miniatures
Apply a thin, even coat of primer to your Chaos Bikers using a spray or brush-on primer. This will provide a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. Chaos Black primer spray works well for these models.
  2. Step 2: Base coat the armor
Start by applying a base coat to the armor using a color like Leadbelcher. Use a medium-sized brush and thin your paint with water or a medium. Apply the paint evenly, making sure to cover all the armor surfaces.
  3. Step 3: Add details with wash
Apply a wash, such as Nuln Oil, to the entire model. This will add depth and shading to the armor and other details. Use a small brush to carefully apply the wash to the recesses, allowing it to flow and settle into the crevices.
  4. Step 4: Highlight the armor
Using a lighter metallic color, such as Ironbreaker, apply highlights to the edges and raised areas of the armor. Drybrushing is a great technique for this step. Dip a dry brush into the paint, then wipe off most of the paint on a tissue. Lightly brush the raised areas to catch the edges, adding a metallic sheen.
  5. Step 5: Paint the details
Now it’s time to paint the details. Use colors like Khorne Red for the trim, Abaddon Black for the leather straps, and Retributor Armor for the brass accents. Take your time and use a small brush to carefully paint each detail, ensuring clean lines and neat application.
  6. Step 6: Highlight the details
Once the base colors have dried, apply highlights to the details. For example, use a lighter shade like Evil Sunz Scarlet to add highlights to the red trim, Administratum Grey for the black straps, and Tyran Blue for any blue elements. This step will add depth and make the details stand out.
  7. Step 7: Finish the bases
Paint the bases using colors that suit your army’s theme. You can use Stirland Mud for a realistic earth tone or Astrogranite Debris for a more urban feel. Drybrushing the base with a lighter shade, such as Dawnstone – Dry, will bring out the texture.
  8. Step 8: Protect your work
Once the paint is completely dry, apply a protective varnish to your Chaos Bikers. This will safeguard your hard work and keep the paint from chipping or rubbing off during gameplay.
