On the TableTop

These fearsome Warp Talons boast a menacing aesthetic, adorned with horned helmets and wielding vicious-looking lightning claws. With their barbarous wings attached to jump packs, they strike dynamic poses, either perching atop or launching themselves from the debris-laden bases. Every inch of their meticulously sculpted forms reflects the distorting influence of the Warp. From the emergence of grills on shoulder pads to protruding cables and teeth adorning the rims of their jump packs, their metallic-rimmed armor embodies the chaotic energies of the Warp. The Warp Talons exude an aura of excitement and visual impact, seamlessly integrating into any Chaos Space Marine collection.

To add an extra layer of detail and personality, each miniature’s base boasts three additional captivating elements. Among them, you’ll find three mischievous Nurglings, each with its own distinctive role. One mischievous Nurgling is captured in the act of pulling the pin from a grenade, evoking the volatile chaos inherent in the Death Guard. Another Nurgling grins with an eerie malevolence, embodying the twisted delight found amidst the horrors of battle. Lastly, one Nurgling takes on the form of a quivering, fleshy mass of tentacles, a grotesque testament to the nightmarish mutations brought forth by Nurgle’s blessings.

How to paint the Warp Talons set

  1. Step 1: Prime your miniatures
Using a primer spray, apply an even coat to your models. This will provide a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. Chaos Black is a good option.
  2. Step 2: Base coat the armor
Begin by applying a base coat to the armor using a color like Mephiston Red. Thin your paint with water or a medium, and use a medium-sized brush to cover the armor evenly. Make sure to get into all the crevices and details.
  3. Step 3: Add details with a wash
Next, use a wash such as Agrax Earthshade to bring out the details on the armor. Apply the wash to the recesses, allowing it to flow into the cracks and crevices. This will create shadows and depth.
  4. Step 4: Highlight the armor
Using a lighter shade, like Evil Sunz Scarlet, apply a drybrushing technique to highlight the edges and raised areas of the armor. Dip your brush lightly in the paint, then wipe off the excess on a tissue. Gently brush over the armor, catching the raised surfaces. This will add dimension to the miniatures.
  5. Step 5: Paint the lightning claws
Choose a metallic color, such as Leadbelcher, for the lightning claws. Apply the base coat to the claws, and then use a wash or drybrush technique to add depth and highlights. For example, you can use a Nuln Oil wash to darken the recesses and Ironbreaker for edge highlights.
  6. Step 6: Detail the helmets and wings
Using a small brush, carefully paint the helmets and wings. Base coat the helmets with a color like Abaddon Black and then add highlights using a lighter shade such as Eshin Grey. For the wings, use a color like Celestra Grey as a base coat and add highlights with Ulthuan Grey.
  7. Step 7: Finish the bases
Paint the bases in a suitable color, such as a dark brown or gray. You can add texture with small rocks or debris using colors like Stirland Mud and Dryad Bark. Remember to highlight the edges of the bases with a lighter shade to make them stand out.
  8. Step 8: Protect your work
Once the paint is dry, apply a protective varnish to seal and protect your miniatures. This will prevent the paint from chipping or rubbing off during gameplay.
