Cultist Warband

Chaos Cultists, mortal followers of the Dark Gods, are relentless warriors driven by promises of power, wielding an assortment of improvised weaponry. This versatile multipart plastic kit allows you to assemble eight Chaos Cultists for use in both Warhammer 40,000 and Blackstone Fortress. The set includes a Cultist Firebrand and Cultist Champion, as well as four Cultists armed with autoguns and grenades, one with a heavy stubber, and another with a grenade launcher. Donning daemonic masks and tattered attire, these models seamlessly integrate with existing Chaos Cultists, augmenting your Cultist Mob with additional firepower. Originally featured in Blackstone Fortress: Escalation, they can also serve as formidable adversaries in Blackstone Fortress games, particularly when paired with the challenging Abominable Intellect cards that raise the stakes of your quests.

How to paint the Cultist Warband set

1. Step 1: Basecoat the Models
   Apply a basecoat of Chaos Black to all the models using a brush or spray paint. This provides a solid foundation for the subsequent layers of paint.
2. Step 2: Paint the Skin
   Using a brush, paint the exposed skin areas of the Cultists with a basecoat of Cadian Fleshtone. Once dry, apply a wash of Reikland Fleshshade to add depth and shading. Highlight the raised areas with Kislev Flesh for a more realistic look.
3. Step 3: Paint the Clothing
   Choose different colors for the Cultists clothing. For example, you can use Mephiston Red for one Cultist, Caliban Green for another, and so on. Apply the basecoat to the clothing areas and use washes like Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade to add definition and shadows.
4. Step 4: Add Details and Weapons
   Paint the details such as belts, pouches, and straps using colors like Abaddon Black or Leadbelcher. Add metallic highlights using Ironbreaker or Runefang Steel. For the weapons, use appropriate colors like Khorne Red for a heavy stubber or Averland Sunset for a grenade launcher.
5. Step 5: Paint the Masks
   The daemonic masks worn by the Cultists can be painted in various colors to add diversity to the warband. For instance, you can use Retributor Armor for a gold mask, Warpfiend Grey for a grey mask, or Temple Guard Blue for a blue mask. Apply the basecoat, add shading with a wash, and highlight the edges with a lighter color.
6. Step 6: Finishing Touches
   Apply a drybrush of Ushabti Bone to the edges of the clothing and other raised areas to create highlights. Use a fine brush to paint the eyes and teeth of the Cultists with colors like Yriel Yellow or Screaming Skull. Finally, apply a varnish to protect the paint job and give the models a finished look.
