How to paint the Tzaangor Shaman set
- Step 1: Basecoat the model
Begin by applying a basecoat to the Tzaangor Shaman using a suitable color, such as a deep blue like Kantor Blue or a vibrant purple like Genestealer Purple. Apply the basecoat evenly across the model, covering all the areas. - Step 2: Highlight the details
Use a lighter shade of paint, like Altdorf Guard Blue or Xereus Purple, to carefully highlight the raised areas and details of the Tzaangor Shaman. This will help bring out the intricate features of the model. - Step 3: Add metallic accents
Apply metallic paints, such as Leadbelcher or Runefang Steel, to any metallic elements on the model, such as weapons or jewelry. This will provide a striking contrast and add visual interest to the miniature. - Step 4: Paint the Disc of Tzeentch
Focus on the Disc of Tzeentch the Shaman is riding. Use vibrant colors like Lothern Blue or Screamer Pink to create swirling, magical patterns on the disc. You can also add additional details and highlights using complementary colors like Baharroth Blue or Emperor’s Children. - Step 5: Detail the face and feathers
Pay special attention to the Tzaangor Shaman’s face and feathered headdress. Use a fine brush and carefully paint the facial features, adding depth with shades like Drakenhof Nightshade or Carroburg Crimson. Highlight the feathers with lighter tones, such as Temple Guard Blue or Emperor’s Children. - Step 6: Finishing touches
Apply washes, like Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade, to recessed areas to enhance the shadows and add depth to the model. Once dry, you can add final touches like dry brushing or edge highlighting to make certain details pop. - Step 7: Varnish for protection (optional)
If desired, apply a layer of varnish, such as Ardcoat or Lahmian Medium, to protect the painted model and give it a consistent finish. This step is optional but can help preserve your hard work.
