The Pteraxii, one of the specialized castes of cyborg warriors in the Adeptus Mechanicus, are finely tuned for instinctive reaction and remarkable agility. Their reflexes are enhanced by minimizing cognitive processes that hinder their primary function. Equipped with additional limb attachments called scapuli superior on their backs, they are connected to flight packs with thrusters and reactive surfaces. Serving in various roles, the Pteraxii are adept at clearing forge temples from technosites and cyblight infestations, often unleashing the power of their phosphor torches against intelligent adversaries.

Pteraxii Sterylizors, armed with lethal long-barreled flamer weapons known as phosphor torches, descend upon their prey, using their Pteraxii talons to gouge and tear. The unit’s Alpha member, on the other hand, wields a flechette blaster and taser goad. These skilled warriors excel as a close support unit, providing valuable assistance to your advancing Skitarii forces.

How to paint the Pteraxii Sterylizors Set

  1. Step 1: Prepare the miniatures
Clean the Pteraxii Sterylizor miniatures with warm, soapy water to remove any mold release agent. Rinse and let them dry completely before proceeding.
  2. Step 2: Prime the miniatures
Apply a thin, even coat of primer to the miniatures. This will help the paint adhere better and provide a smooth surface for painting. A suitable color for the primer can be Chaos Black.
  3. Step 3: Basecoat the armor
Using a brush, apply a basecoat of Leadbelcher or similar metallic silver paint to the armor plates, talons, and other metallic parts of the miniatures.
  4. Step 4: Paint the cloth and skin
Using Contrast paint, apply a layer of Gryph-Charger Grey or any similar light gray color to the cloth areas of the miniatures. For the exposed skin, use Contrast paint Guilliman Flesh or another suitable flesh tone.
  5. Step 5: Highlight the armor
With a small brush, carefully apply Stormhost Silver or a bright silver paint to the edges and raised areas of the metallic armor plates to create highlights and add depth.
  6. Step 6: Detail the accessories
Paint the phosphor torches with Baharroth Blue or a similar bright blue color. Add details to the talons, including clawed tips, using Abaddon Black or another black paint.
  7. Step 7: Paint the flight packs
Apply Kantor Blue or a deep blue shade to the flight packs. Use a lighter blue, such as Calgar Blue, to create highlights on the edges and raised areas.
  8. Step 8: Finish the details
Paint any remaining details on the miniatures, such as the eye lenses using Mephiston Red or another vibrant red paint. Add additional details to the bases, such as rocks or debris, using Stirland Mud or a suitable brown paint.
  9. Step 9: Apply a wash (optional)
For added depth and shading, you can apply a wash to the miniatures. Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade are good choices for this step. Apply the wash selectively to recessed areas, such as the folds of cloth or the gaps between armor plates.
  10. Step 10: Varnish the miniatures
To protect your paint job, apply a coat of varnish. Munitorum Varnish or any matte varnish will work well. Make sure to follow the instructions on the varnish for best results
