How to paint the Retributor Squad Set
- Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
Choose a well-lit and clean area to work on your painting project. Gather all the necessary supplies, including brushes, paints, water, and a palette. Lay down a protective covering to avoid any accidental spills or stains. - Step 2: Prime the Models
Apply a thin and even coat of primer to the Retributor Squad figurines. Primer helps the paint adhere better and provides a smooth surface to work on. You can use Citadel’s Chaos Black Spray Primer for this. - Step 3: Basecoat the Armor
Start by applying a basecoat to the armor. One suitable color choice could be Retributor Armor. Use a medium-sized brush and apply thin layers, allowing each layer to dry before adding more. This ensures smooth coverage and prevents clumping. - Step 4: Highlight the Armor
Using a lighter shade of gold, such as Liberator Gold, carefully highlight the raised edges and details of the armor. This technique adds depth and brings out the intricate design. Apply the highlights sparingly, focusing on areas that catch the light. - Step 5: Paint the Details
Now it’s time to paint the various details of the Retributor Squad figurines. Use a smaller brush to work on the face, weapons, and other intricate elements. For example, you can use Abaddon Black for the weapons, Leadbelcher for the metallic parts, and Pallid Wych Flesh for the face. - Step 6: Wash for Depth
Apply a wash to the models using Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil. Dilute it slightly with water and carefully apply it to the recesses and crevices. This adds shadows and depth to the models, enhancing their overall appearance. - Step 7: Highlight the Details
Once the wash is dry, go back and apply a subtle highlight to the raised areas of the details. For example, use Stormhost Silver for the metallic parts and White Scar for the hair. This step adds further definition and brings out the finer elements of the models.
