How to paint the Morvenn Vahl, Abbess Sanctorum of the Adepta Sororitas Set

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Model
Clean the Morvenn Vahl model by removing any mold lines or imperfections using a hobby knife or file. Use plastic glue to assemble the model if it comes in multiple pieces. Then, prime the model by applying a thin, even coat of primer to ensure the paint adheres properly. Let it dry completely.
  2. Step 2: Basecoat the Armor
Start by basecoating the armor with Retributor Armour. Dilute the paint slightly with water on your palette to achieve a smooth consistency. Using a medium-sized brush, apply thin layers of Retributor Armour, ensuring you cover all the armor sections. Let it dry between layers if needed, and apply multiple coats for a solid coverage.
  3. Step 3: Paint the Robes and Cloth
Next, focus on the robes and cloth areas. Use Celestra Grey to basecoat these areas. Thin the paint with water as before and apply it carefully, ensuring you reach all the details without spilling onto other areas. Again, layer the paint if necessary to achieve good coverage.
  4. Step 4: Add Highlights and Shadows
To create depth and dimension, apply highlights and shadows to the model. Use lighter shades to highlight raised areas and darker shades for recessed or shaded areas. For example, you can use Liberator Gold or Auric Armour Gold as a highlight for the Retributor Armour by drybrushing or edge highlighting. Apply Ulthuan Grey as a highlight to the raised folds or edges of the Celestra Grey robes.
  5. Step 5: Details and Accents
Now it’s time to paint the smaller details, such as the face, accessories, and weapons. Use appropriate colors for each detail. For example, you can use Bugman’s Glow as a base for the face, followed by Kislev Flesh for highlights and Reikland Fleshshade for shading. For accessories like the purity seals, use Mephiston Red for the base, and add highlights with Evil Sunz Scarlet.
  6. Step 6: Finishing Touches
To complete the model, add any additional details, such as the base. You can use texture paints or flock to create a realistic-looking base. Citadel offers various base materials in different colors and textures, like Astrogranite or Stirland Mud.
  7. Step 7: Varnishing (Optional)
If you want to protect your painted model, consider applying a varnish. Citadel offers varnishes in matte, satin, and gloss finishes. Choose the one you prefer and follow the instructions on the bottle.
