How to paint the Daemonifuge – Ephrael Stern & Kyganil Set
- Step 1: Prime the miniatures
Start by priming the Daemonifuge – Ephrael Stern & Kyganil miniatures with a light grey or white primer. This provides a smooth base for the paint and enhances color vibrancy. - Step 2: Base coat
Use appropriate base colors for each part of the miniatures. For example, use Retributor Armour for the gold details, Abaddon Black for the armor plates, Mephiston Red for any cloth or fabric, and White Scar for the hair. - Step 3: Layering
Apply layer paints to add depth and highlights to the miniatures. Use lighter shades of the base colors to layer on top, focusing on raised areas and edges. For example, layer Runelord Brass on top of Retributor Armour for a brighter gold effect, or layer Fenrisian Grey on Macragge Blue for highlights. - Step 4: Shade and wash
Apply shade paints or washes to add shadows and definition to the miniatures. Use Agrax Earthshade for the gold areas to deepen the recesses, Nuln Oil for the cloth, and Druchii Violet for the hair and other appropriate areas. - Step 5: Fine details
Use smaller brushes to paint fine details such as facial features, eyes, symbols, and accessories. Use appropriate colors like Screaming Skull for teeth, or Evil Sunz Scarlet for gemstones. - Step 6: Highlights
Apply highlights to bring out the details and create a more dynamic look. Use lighter shades of the base colors to carefully paint the edges and raised areas. For example, highlight the edges of the armor plates with a mix of Macragge Blue and Fenrisian Grey. - Step 7: Finishing touches
Add any final touches to complete the miniatures. This could include adding weathering effects, freehand designs, or additional details like tattoos. Use appropriate colors and techniques to achieve the desired effects. - Step 8: Basing
Paint the bases in a suitable color, such as a textured gray or brown to represent a natural terrain. Add additional elements like grass tufts, rocks, or other scenic materials to enhance the overall appearance.
