On the TableTop

The Venerable Dreadnought is a towering war machine that stands three times the height of a man and is equipped with powerful weapons. These deadly machines are as lethal at range as they are in close assault. Dreadnoughts are treasured relics of a chapter and are only awoken in times of great need. Each Dreadnought houses a mighty Space Marine hero who has sustained severe wounds in battle and has been saved only by internment within the machine. In times of peace, Venerable Dreadnoughts bring their wisdom to the Chapter, and on the battlefield, they provide their immense experience to secure victory.

This kit boasts a remarkable array of armaments and embellishments to enhance your Warhammer 40k experience. Additionally, a set of smoke launchers adds tactical versatility to your arsenal.

But that’s not all; the kit doesn’t stop at weaponry. It offers a diverse selection of ornate leg guards and three unique helmet variants to customize your miniature. Six meticulously crafted purity seals and two different pennants contribute to the character of your model.

Furthermore, this kit provides a rich assortment of sarcophagus armor plates with varying designs, allowing you to tailor your miniature’s appearance to your liking. To complete the package, you’ll find an array of Crux Terminatus and other Imperial icons, adding that essential touch of authenticity to your Warhammer 40k creation.

How to paint the Venerable Dreadnought Set

  1. Step 1: Prime the miniature
Spray the miniature with black or white primer to provide a base for the paint. This helps the paint adhere better to the surface.
  2. Step 2: Basecoat the armor
Use a basecoat of Macragge Blue to paint the main body of the Dreadnought. Apply thin, even layers to ensure smooth coverage.
  3. Step 3: Highlight the armor
Using Administratum Grey, carefully apply highlights to the edges and raised areas of the armor plates to create depth and definition.
  4. Step 4: Paint the details
Use Leadbelcher to paint the metallic parts of the Dreadnought, such as the weapons and joints. Add additional details using other appropriate colors, such as Mephiston Red for any decorative elements or purity seals.
  5. Step 5: Apply shade paint
Use Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade to apply a wash over the entire model. This will help to bring out the details and create shadows.
  6. Step 6: Drybrush the model
With a light touch, use a drybrush and Ulthuan Grey to lightly brush over the model’s surfaces. This will pick out the raised edges and textures, adding highlights and a worn effect.
  7. Step 7: Paint the base
Paint the base of the model with appropriate colors to match your desired theme. For example, you can use Rhinox Hide for a rocky ground, or Stirland Mud for a muddy terrain. Add additional details like grass tufts or rocks for more realism.
  8. Step 8: Seal the model
Once the paint has fully dried, apply a clear coat of varnish to protect the paint job and give it a finished look.
