The Ravenwing Dark Talon is a formidable asset in the arsenal of the Dark Angels, Space Marine Chapter. Its primary role is to provide ground support and conduct swift strikes against the enemies of the Imperium. This sleek and deadly aircraft is one of the deadliest weapons in the Ravenwing’s armory, and it plays a pivotal role in the 2nd Company’s eternal hunt for the Fallen.

The Ravenwing Dark Talon is a multi-part plastic kit that can be used to create either a Ravenwing Dark Talon or a Nephilim Jetfighter. Both options are impressive additions to any Dark Angels collection, with stunning designs that echo the aesthetics of the popular Storm Talon. However, the Ravenwing Dark Talon is uniquely characterized by Dark Angels iconography, motifs, and design elements based on artifacts found on their home planet, Caliban.

The construction of the Ravenwing Dark Talon is both robust and impressive, featuring cathedral-like masonry built into the core of the flyer, surrounded by censors, insignias, wires, and skulls. Meanwhile, metal panels and rivets surround the engines, creating a stunning visual contrast. The kit comes with two hurricane bolters, a rift cannon, and a stasis bomb, providing a range of deadly armaments that make this aircraft an unparalleled force on the battlefield.

How to paint the Ravenwing Dark Talon

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
Before you start painting your Ravenwing Dark Talon miniature, make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials at hand. This includes your paints, brushes, a palette, water cup, and a clean workspace. You can use a paint handle or a holder to make it easier to grip and paint your miniature.
  2. Step 2: Prime the Miniature
Apply a thin coat of primer to the miniature using a brush or a spray can. This will help the paint adhere to the miniature and provide a smooth surface for your colors. Grey or black primer works best for Ravenwing Dark Talon miniatures.
  3. Step 3: Basecoat
Start by applying a basecoat to your Ravenwing Dark Talon miniature. Use Abaddon Black or any color you want, as this will be the main one. Apply the basecoat to all the areas of the miniature, including the wings, engines, and cockpit.
  4. Step 4: Highlighting
To make the miniature pop, use a lighter color to highlight the edges and raised areas of the miniature. You can use colors like Administratum Grey or Eshin Grey to achieve this effect. Use a smaller brush for more precise highlighting.
  5. Step 5: Details
Use different colors to paint the details on your Ravenwing Dark Talon miniature. You can use metallic colors like Leadbelcher or Retributor Armour for the engines and guns, and colors like Mephiston Red or White Scar for the insignia and markings. Use a small brush for these details.
  6. Step 6: Wash
To add depth and shading to your miniature, use a wash. Apply a thin layer of Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade to the miniature. This will darken the recesses and give your miniature a more realistic look.
  7. Step 7: Basing
Apply texture paints like Astrogranite Debris or Stirland Mud to the base and add some rocks or other scenic elements to complete the look. They add alot to the scenery and a nicely painted base greatly improves the look of your miniature.
  8. Step 8: Varnishing
To protect your Ravenwing Dark Talon, consider applying a varnish. A matte spray varnish like Munitorum provides a protective layer without altering the finish. Ensure the miniatures are entirely dry before varnishing.
