How to paint the Ironclad Dreadnought
- Step 1: Primer
Apply a primer coat to the model to help the paint adhere better. A black primer such as Citadel’s Chaos Black works well. - Step 2: Base Coat
Apply a base coat to the model. For the Ironclad Dreadnought, a base coat of Macragge Blue for the armor and Leadbelcher for the metal parts work well. Use a medium brush for larger areas and a small brush for smaller details. - Step 3: Details
Paint the details of the model. Use Retributor Armor for any gold areas, Agrax Earthshade for any crevices, and Mournfang Brown for any leather areas. - Step 4: Weapons
Paint the weapons of the model. Use Mephiston Red for the flamers, Averland Sunset for the meltagun, Abaddon Black for the storm bolter, and Leadbelcher for the chainfist and seismic hammer. - Step 5: Highlights
Add highlights to the model to make it pop. Use Calgar Blue for the armor highlights, Ironbreaker for the metal highlights, and Liberator Gold for the gold highlights. - Step 6: Basing
