How to paint the Grey Knights Brother Captain

  1. Step 1: Base Coat the Armor
Start by applying Leadbelcher to the armor of your Grey Knights Brother Captain. This forms the base color for the metallic armor.
  2. Step 2: Add Depth with Drakenhof Nightshade
To create shadows and depth on the armor, use Drakenhof Nightshade as a shade. Apply it to the recesses and crevices of the armor.
  3. Step 3: Highlight with Ironbreaker
Highlight the raised areas of the armor with Ironbreaker. This step adds dimension and a metallic sheen to the armor.
  4. Step 4: Final Highlight with Stormhost Silver
Apply Stormhost Silver to the very edges and prominent parts of the armor. This creates a bright, reflective highlight, giving the armor a polished look.
  5. Step 5: Detailing with Retributor Armour
Use Retributor Armour to paint any gold details on the Brother Captain, such as trims, embellishments, or iconography.
  6. Step 6: Adding Dark Details with Abaddon Black
Paint any dark details on the model, such as the hilt of the sword or other non-metallic elements, with Abaddon Black.
  7. Step 7: Electrify the Sword
You can start with a base coat of Macragge Blue, add lighter layers with Altdorf Guard Blue, and finish with a final highlight of Baharroth Blue on the edges to give it a glowing, electric effect.
  8. Step 8: Basing
Elevate your Grey Knights Brother Captain’s base by using Texture Paints like Astrogranite Debris or Stirland Mud. These paints provide texture and depth to the base, enhancing the overall presentation of your miniature.
  9. Step 9: Varnishing
To protect your meticulously painted model and provide a durable finish, apply a coat of varnish, such as Munitorum Varnish. This not only safeguards your work but also gives your Brother Captain a polished appearance.
