On the TableTop

Behold the mighty Weirdboyz, the epitome of psychic might among the Orks, harnessing the immense psychic energy generated by their greenskin brethren. Amidst the rowdy nature of the Orks, the Weirdboy absorbs a tremendous amount of psychic power, which, if left unchecked, can prove catastrophically fatal. Frequently unleashing this pent-up energy in devastating blasts, the resulting chaos often leads to a messy and untimely demise for anyone nearby. At times, these Weirdboyz even vanish entirely, reappearing amidst the enemy in a dazzling green flash. Regardless of how their powers manifest, the Orks who follow them into battle are always guaranteed an exhilarating spectacle.

How to paint the Weirdboy set

  1. Step 1: Prime the Miniature
To begin, apply a thin coat of primer to the Weirdboy miniature. Priming helps the paint adhere better and provides a smooth surface to work on. Use a black or white primer based on your desired color scheme. For example, if you want brighter colors, use White Scar primer.
  2. Step 2: Base Coat
Apply a base coat to the entire miniature. The base coat is the main color that will serve as the foundation for your paint job. Select appropriate colors based on your chosen scheme. For instance, you can use Doombull Brown for the robes, Waaagh! Flesh for the skin, and Abaddon Black for the staff.
  3. Step 3: Layering
Once the base coat is dry, it’s time to add depth and detail through layering. Layering involves applying lighter or darker shades of paint to specific areas to create shadows and highlights. For example, you can layer Warboss Green over the flesh base coat to highlight certain areas of the skin.
  4. Step 4: Dry Brushing
Dry brushing adds texture and highlights to raised areas of the miniature. Dip a dry brush lightly into a lighter color paint and then remove most of it on a tissue or paper towel. Gently brush the raised surfaces of the miniature to create a weathered or worn effect. Use, for instance, Dawnstone for dry brushing the staff.
  5. Step 5: Detailing
Now it’s time to add smaller details to make your Weirdboy stand out. Using a fine brush, carefully paint the details such as the eyes, teeth, and symbols on the robes. For instance, you can use Retributor Armor for the teeth and Agrax Earthshade for shading the eye sockets.
  6. Step 6: Basing
To complete your miniature, you can paint the base. This step is optional but can enhance the overall appearance of your model. You can use sand, flock, or other materials to create a realistic base. Paint the base with appropriate colors, such as Dryad Bark for a forest theme or Stirland Mud for a muddy ground effect.
