The Gorgon Pattern Terminator Armor was an advanced prototype of Tactical Dreadnought Armor developed by Ferrus Manus and the Iron Fathers of the Iron Hands Legion during the Great Crusade. This experimental armor, unique to the Iron Hands, was one of Ferrus Manus’s innovations in response to his dissatisfaction with standard Terminator armor designs, such as the Tartaros, Cataphractii, and Indomitus patterns. The Gorgon armor enhanced durability and resilience, ideal for Iron Hands‘ combat style, but required the wearer to undergo extensive cybernetic bonding, making it particularly dangerous to use.
Notably, the armor included a unique visual enhancement system, allowing the wearer to target enemies with high precision, and was equipped with hardened armor plates resilient to most weapon types. However, despite its potential, the Gorgon pattern was not fully refined due to Ferrus Manus’s death during the Horus Heresy. The remaining suits were largely lost at the Drop Site Massacre on Isstvan V, making these suits a rare relic of Iron Hands history.
