Step 1: How to paint the Body
Begin by painting the body of the Culexus Assassin with Abaddon Black. This provides a dark base for the model. Edge highlight his body with Skavenblight Dinge or Eshin Grey. Create thin lines, highlighting his muscles and features. This will give the body a subtle variation in color and make the black body more detailed.
Step 2: How to paint the Mask of the Culexus Assassin
Now, let’s focus on the face mask, which is also referred to as the Animus Speculum. Paint it with Celestra Grey to achieve a ghostly appearance. For warmth and depth on the face mask, use Reikland Fleshshade as a shade. Then, layer the Animus Speculum with White Scar to give it an eerie and otherworldly look.
Step 3: Painting the Metallic Components of the Mask
Focus on the metallic components of the mask. Paint them with Leadbelcher for a metallic base.
Apply Agrax Earthshade as a shade to create shadows and depth in these metallic parts.
Highlight the edges and raised areas with Skullcrusher Brass for a distinctive metallic look.
Step 4: Adding Details
For the eyes of the Culexus Assassin, use Ahriman Blue to create a piercing, eerie glow.
Paint the arcane eye with Moot Green or your preferred color to make it the focal point.
Any other metallic details on the body should be painted with the appropriate metallic colors, like Stormhost Silver or Balthasar Gold. Don’t forget to use Mephiston Red for the cables.
For the metal plate the Culexus Assassin sits on, shine with Runelord Brass. This will give it an ornate and metallic appearance that fits our color scheme. You can add rust effects on it using Typhus Corrosion or Ryza Rust.
Step 6: Basing for Realism
Consider using texture paints like Martian Ironcrust or Agrellan Earth to create a textured and realistic base. Get creative with these to achieve the desired desert or earthy appearance.
Step 7: Protecting Your Work
To safeguard your finely painted Culexus Assassin, apply Munitorum Varnish. This will protect your masterpiece and give it a uniform finish to keep it looking great over time.
