How to paint the Nexos set
- Step 1: Base Colors
Start by painting Nexos’ shirt with a coat of Fenrisian Grey. Use smooth brush strokes to apply the paint evenly, covering the shirt area. This initial layer creates a foundation for building up the colors. - Step 2: Layering
To enhance the depth and dimension of the fabric, apply layers of Lothern Blue. Concentrate on the raised areas and edges of the shirt. The layering technique involves using slightly lighter shades of the same color to create highlights. This technique brings out the texture of the fabric, giving it a more realistic appearance. - Step 3: Cape
Moving on to the cape, use Wazdakka Red to paint this element. Ensure that the red color covers the entire cape evenly. Use controlled brushwork to avoid any unintentional smudging or streaks. - Step 4: Details – Pants, Boots, and Pistol
For Nexos’ pants, boots, and bolt pistol, apply Abaddon Black. This dark color provides a striking contrast to the other parts of the model. Take your time to carefully paint these details, paying attention to small crevices and edges. - Step 5: Flesh
Switch to Rakarth Flesh to paint Nexos flesh areas, like his head. Apply this color with precision, focusing on maintaining a natural and consistent skin tone. Blend the edges for a smooth transition between the flesh and surrounding areas. - Step 6: Collar
Use Administratum Grey to paint the collar he wears. This light color serves to differentiate the collar from the rest of the attire. Apply the paint smoothly and avoid any smudges. - Step 7: Shading
To add depth and definition, apply a shade such as Agrax Earthshade. Apply the shade selectively to areas where shadows naturally form, like folds in the fabric or recesses between armor pieces. This step creates a sense of realism by intensifying the contrast between light and dark areas. - Step 8: Basing
Create a base for Nexos by using textures like Astrogranite or Agrellan Earth to mimic the surface he stands on. You can further enhance the base with small details like rocks, debris, or tufts of grass for a more immersive look. - Step 9: Varnish
Protect your painted model by applying a coat of varnish. Use a product like Munitorum Varnish Spray for a consistent finish. Varnishing helps preserve your paint job from chipping, fading, and other wear and tear.
