At the heart of the T’au Empire’s enigmatic culture stand the revered figures known as Ethereals. Serene and sagacious, these spiritual luminaries assume the mantle of leadership, embodying the profound wisdom and harmonious unity that define the Greater Good. Yet, when the drums of conflict resonate, these revered minds step from the shadows, embracing the role of both spiritual guides and valiant warriors.

With their ritual weapons in hand and an aura of purposeful tranquility, Ethereals descend onto the battlefield. Hover drones propel them above the fray, where they meld the spirituality of their guidance with the fervor of war. In the dance of combat, they invoke the very essence of the T’au Empire’s diverse castes, channeling their collective strength into a symphony of strategic prowess.

Infuse new vitality into your T’au Empire ranks through the presence of an Ethereal. Though their warrior spirit might be reluctant, they wield honor staves as extensions of their philosophies. Rather than overt belligerence, Ethereals favor Innovations – ingenious tactics that amplify the potential of their T’au comrades. Bolstered by the partnership of a hover drone, the Ethereal becomes a swift and dynamic wellspring of support, arriving precisely where inspiration is most urgently required.

What’s in the Ethereal box

  • x10 plastic components that make one Ethereal.
  • x1 Citadel 40mm round base. (the disc he sits on is 25mm if that’s what you need).

How to paint the Ethereal set

  1. Step 1: Prime Your Miniatures
Before you begin, make sure your miniatures are clean and free from any mold lines. Apply a thin coat of primer to help the paint adhere better. A light grey or white primer works well as a base.
  2. Step 2: Base Colors
Start by applying the base colors to your miniatures. For the Ethereal’s robes, use a rich blue like Kantor Blue. For the armor, try a gold such as Retributor Armour. Remember, these are just suggestions – feel free to explore different color combinations!
  3. Step 3: Layering
Now, let’s add depth and dimension. Apply a slightly lighter blue, such as Calgar Blue, to the raised folds of the robes. For the armor, gently paint a lighter gold like Auric Armour Gold on the edges of the plates to mimic light reflection.
  4. Step 4: Wash for Shadows
To make details pop, use a wash like Agrax Earthshade over the robes and armor. The wash will settle into crevices, creating shadows that give your miniatures a realistic look.
  5. Step 5: Highlights
Highlights add that extra spark! Using a lighter blue like Alaitoc Blue, carefully paint the edges of the raised areas on the robes. For the armor, use a light gold such as Golden Griffon on the edges and corners.
  6. Step 6: Skin and Details
For the Ethereal’s skin, choose a pale color like The Fang. Apply it to the face and hands. Don’t forget to paint the intricate details like the Ethereal’s staff with colors like Leadbelcher and Mephiston Red for details.
  7. Step 7: Base and Finishing Touches
Now, let’s complete the model. Paint the base with texture paints like Astrogranite Debris for a realistic terrain effect. You can even add a touch of color to the base’s details like small flowers or grass.
  8. Step 8: Varnish
To protect your hard work, apply a coat of varnish. Choose from matte, satin, or gloss finishes based on your preference.
