How to paint the Reductus Saboteur set

  1. Step 1: Get Acquainted with the Model
Take a good look at your Reductus Saboteur miniature. Familiarize yourself with its different parts, such as the body, head, arms, and any additional accessories like explosives or booby traps. This will help you plan your painting approach and visualize the final result.
  2. Step 2: Prime the Miniature
Before you start painting, apply a thin coat of Chaos Black Primer to the entire model. Primer helps the paint adhere better to the surface and ensures a smoother finish.
  3. Step 3: Base Coat
Start by painting the robe with Mephiston Red, a vibrant red color. Use a large brush and apply multiple thin coats to achieve an even and rich tone. For the cloth, use Macragge Blue, a striking blue shade, ensuring smooth coverage and consistent color.
  4. Step 4: Paint the Armor, Boots, and Skin
Now, focus on the armor and boots, which you’ll paint with Abaddon Black. For the exposed skin areas, use Daemonette Hide, carefully applying it to achieve a natural skin tone.
  5. Step 5: Shade the Skin
To add depth and realism to the skin, apply a shade to it. Use Druchii Violet shade over the Daemonette Hide to create shadows and accentuate the features of the face and exposed skin areas. Be careful not to apply too much, as a little goes a long way.
  6. Step 6: Highlight the skin
After the shade is dry, apply a highlight to the skin using Xereus Purple. This will help create a smoother transition from shadow to highlight and enhance the overall look of the skin.
  7. Step 7: Shade and Highlight the Robe and Cloth
Now, apply a shade to the red robe and blue cloth using Nuln Oil for the robe and Drakenhof Nightshade for the cloth. Then, apply a highlight to the raised areas of the robe with Evil Sunz Scarlet and to the cloth with Alaitoc Blue.
  8. Step 8: Fine Details
Next, attend to finer details like facial features, weapon embellishments, and any other small elements. Use a fine-tipped brush and steady hands to apply these details with precision.
  9. Step 9: Basing
To complete the model, create a suitable base. You can use a pre-made base or make one from scratch using materials like sand, gravel, or small rocks. Paint the base to match the environment you envision for your Reductus Saboteur, such as a barren wasteland or a gritty urban setting.
  10. Step 10: Varnish and Protect
Once you are satisfied with your paint job, apply a layer of Ardcoat to protect the miniature. Ardcoat shields the paint from damage and gives your model a lasting finish.
