To begin painting Eldrad Ulthran, start by priming the model with Chaos Black or any other primer you prefer. This provides a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. - Step 2: Basecoat the Model
Apply a basecoat of paint to Eldrad’s armor and cloak. For the armor, use a color like Mephiston Red, and for the cloak, you can use a dark blue color like Kantor Blue. Make sure to cover the areas evenly with the basecoat. - Step 3: Paint the Staff and Witchblade
Next, paint Eldrad’s Staff of Ulthamar and witchblade. For the staff, use a metallic gold color like Retributor Armour or a similar shade, and for the witchblade, you can use a metallic silver color like Leadbelcher. - Step 4: Highlight the Armor and Cloak
Using a lighter red color like Evil Sunz Scarlet, carefully apply highlights to the edges and prominent areas of Eldrad’s armor. For the cloak, use a lighter blue color like Altdorf Guard Blue to add highlights. This step adds depth and dimension to the model. - Step 5: Add Details
With a fine brush, add any additional details to Eldrad’s armor and cloak, such as runes or patterns. You can use a contrasting color like Ushabti Bone or any other color that complements the base colors. - Step 6: Paint the Runes
Paint the intricate runes on Eldrad’s armor and cloak. You can use a bright color like Wazdakka Red or Baharroth Blue for a striking contrast to the base colors. - Step 7: Paint the Shuriken Pistol
If your Eldrad model has a shuriken pistol, paint it with a metallic color like Ironbreaker or any other silver shade. - Step 8: Add Final Touches
With a fine brush, add any final touches to the model, such as the gems on the Staff of Ulthamar or the eyes on the helmet. You can use contrasting colors to make these details stand out. - Step 9: Varnish and Protect
To preserve your masterpiece, apply a protective layer of varnish over the entire model. This will safeguard the paint job and prevent any damage over time.
